Attendance
Students
are expected to attend all classes punctually. Absence,
lateness and leaving early will be recorded. If absenteeism
becomes a problem, students may be asked to discuss
their absence with their lecturer. If classes are missed,
it is the student's responsibility to obtain and complete
the work.
Discipline
Counseling
will precede any disciplinary action. Initially, discipline
will take the form of discussion between student and
lecturer. If behaviour and/or performance does not improve,
the student will be asked to sign a contract or go on
probation under the supervision of the Centre Director.
However,
a student may be asked to leave NZPTC for:
* breach of contract/probation
* continual absence
* refusal to submit assignments
* persistent cheating or plagiarism
* stealing
* conviction of any crimes
* inciting or practicing violence on campus
* failure to pay fees or charges.
All
disciplinary action is open to appeal through the Centre
Director, Director Operations or CEO.
Complaints/Problems
If
a problem occurs in relation to a particular subject,
the student is expected to address the lecturer concerned
before any other action is taken. Students have the
right to discuss any issue involving classroom delivery
with their lecturer in a mutually respectful manner.
If this is not satisfactory, the student may consult
the relevant programme co-ordinator and then, if necessary,
the Centre Director.
Harassment
Any
form of harassment will constitute a serious breach
of conduct. If you feel you are being harassed by someone,
or if someone is saying or doing things that make you
uncomfortable, please refer the matter to your programme
manager. Firm and appropriate action will be taken.
